There is a geared stalk that connects the wiper arm to the wiper motor, which are connected via a long spring. This is called the wheel box, you can see the knurled end protruding from the front of your 101! I thought my motor was broken, but it was this part seized. This is what it looks like: They are classed as "hens teeth" by most 101 owners I've talked to. This is due to being a British Leyland part, not a Land Rover part. The part was originally manufactured by Lucas and seems to be used by Mini, MG, Jaguar in the 70's which may explain their use on the 101. I found the best way to remove the unit from the vehicle was to crack the nut (its an odd size so sockets won't do it and it's probably painted in place) and then "hammer" them through. On replacement I would suggest that plenty of grease is put between the aluminium bulkhead and the steel plate of the wiper wheel box to help prevent water ingress and corrosion. Hope this saves you some heartache. Cheers, Big Mike
